Citadel - proposed new activity space!
Since the onset of the first lockdown in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Citadel 2nd floor has remained closed.
As restrictions ease, we're now in a position to be able to reopen areas of this floor. We are excited to present proposals to refurbish the vacant cafe space into a new multi purpose activity area! This newly refurbished area would become the home for our hugely popular Spin classes and would also give us space to consider expanding the fitness class programme along with utilising this area for children's birthday parties, our health referral programme, staff training and many other activities. In repurposing this area, it also offers us the opportunity to reintroduce the availability of the main hall for external bookings, birthday parties and casual football/basketball/badminton bookings.
In order to give us a bigger space to work with, we have already completed some initial works to remove the old cafe 'servery' area. To refurbish the space, we are proposing to complete the following work;
- Window vinyls or frosting to all windows
- Multi functional flooring throughout
- Air conditioning installation
- Lighting and AV solution to support fitness class delivery
- Decoration throughout
We can also confirm that, as part of the work above we are planning on installing some seating along with additional vending on the large foyer area on the 2nd floor. We anticipate that the seating will be similar to the comfortable bench/settee style seating that we installed on the Citadel ground floor, in recent years. This will offer a space for our users to meet and socialise during their visit to the Citadel, subject to ongoing COVID-19 guidance from Scottish Governement, in response to the Pandemic.
You will find below a selection of photos which offer a basic outline of how the area would be laid out as a spin studio and an example of the flooring proposed to be used in the space along with an example of the type of fresh food vending we'd consider. We plan for this to include sandwiches and for our existing hot drink/soup vending machine to be relocated upstairs from the 1st floor.
