New Head Teacher for Belmont Academy

Kevin Boyd is set to become the new head teacher at Belmont Academy in Ayr.

Kevin takes the helm at an exciting time, as the school continues to build on a positive inspection report under previous head teacher Tracy Stewart.

Kevin, who is currently head teacher at Strathaven Academy, has strong links with South Ayrshire having been a pupil at Ayr Academy. He later worked at Prestwick Academy for 15 years, undertaking a variety of roles from principal teacher of maths to acting head teacher.

Kevin said: "I look forward to working with all members of the Belmont Academy community to deliver positive outcomes for all young people.  Belmont Academy is a fantastic school with many strengths, and I relish the opportunity to lead the community on its journey to excellence."

Councillor William Grant, Children and Young People Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "I am delighted to welcome Kevin back to South Ayrshire. It's clear he has vast experience and will be a great asset to the school. Belmont's last inspection report was particularly strong, and I am sure Kevin will continue this success."

Kevin will start his new role on Monday 21 February 2022.
