Language Provision
Language Provision is a nurturing service provided jointly by education and speech and language therapy. Children at risk of having severe Developmental Language Disorder are supported to develop language skills that will enable them to be an active participant in their learning. Pre-school and Primary 1 children may attend Language Provision on a part time basis, 4 afternoons per week while attending their mainstream placement for the remainder of the week. Outreach support is provided for children in Primary 2.
Language provision is staffed with 1 teacher, 1 speech and language therapist and an early years practitioner. The Language Provision teacher works closely with early years and school staff to sharing advice on strategies and approaches best suited to meet the needs of each learner.
In addition, awareness raising workshops and presentations are offered to enhance the support education settings can provide for children and young people with developmental language disorder.
