Provost Visits Modular Homes Factory

Provost Modular Homes

Provost Iain Campbell visited Connect Modular Ltd.'s modular home factory along with Councillor Martin Kilbride, Buildings, Housing and Environment Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council, and Kevin Anderson, Service Lead Performance, Policy and Community Planning, on Thursday 25 August

A modular home development by Riverside Scotland is currently under construction in Dundonald. Using an innovative and sustainable construction method, modules are built to ceiling height- with kitchens, bathroom, plumbing, and electrics installed - offsite at the factory then transported to the development.

With this new method, Connect Modular estimate that construction waste is up to 85% less than on traditional sites and up to 67% less energy is required to produce a modular building.

More than 13% of the homes on the Dundonald site have been allocated to military veteran households as part of Riverside Scotland's commitment in collaboration with South Ayrshire Council to provide homes for veterans at risk of homelessness.
