Shop Local this Christmas with the Scotland Loves Local South Ayrshire Gift Card
South Ayrshire Council is encouraging people to shop local in the run up to Christmas with the Scotland Loves Local South Ayrshire gift card.
If you're struggling with Christmas present ideas, why not treat someone you love to the fantastic products, services and experiences our region has to offer?
The card can be used in around 200 business across South Ayrshire, from bespoke independent retailers to restaurants, beauty salons, leisure facilities and much more.
Supported by the Scottish Government, Scotland Loves Local is the national initiative delivered by Scotland's Towns Partnership (STP), designed to encourage consumers to think local first.
The push to shop local comes alongside a drive to encourage footfall into Ayr Town Centre ahead of the festive period, with a fantastic range of activities lined up every weekend in December and unlimited, free parking in Council cark parks and on street bays.
Councillor Bob Pollock, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Economic Development said: "We're asking all South Ayrshire residents to show their support for their town centres and high streets by shopping local this Christmas.
"The South Ayrshire gift card is an excellent example of Community Wealth Building in action, and has benefits which go far beyond the point of purchase - from boosting our local economy, to protecting jobs, promoting local produce and much more."
Councillor Alec Clark, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affair said: "Our main message to residents this year is think local first. The South Ayrshire Gift Card is not just present to your loved one, it is also a gift to the entire community - supporting local businesses, jobs and livelihoods across South Ayrshire.
"There's a fantastic range of businesses signed up so it's a great way to give the gift of choice this Christmas."
