Thriving Communities Host Fantastic Headline Events

NEWS UPDATED

South Ayrshire Council's Thriving Communities team provided families and young people across South Ayrshire with the choice of two free fantastic events to finish up their recent programme of activities.

Held at the Ayr Academy campus, the Family Learning Festival was attended by over 350 people and offered a range of activities and entertainment to suit all ages, from live music; sensory play; STEM activities; Magic from the Fabulous Frazer, to owl magic; climbing walls; and alpacas.

To cater for those aged 12-18 years, the Bounce Festival proved popular, with 425 young people enjoying live music from well-known Scottish DJ's; carnival games; and a finale foam party. This event was also an important opportunity to provide young people with issue-based workshops which focused on vaping, alcohol and drugs.

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Economic Development, Councillor Bob Pollock said: "These two events were a great way to end a fantastic programme of activities organised by the Thriving Communities team and I'd like to thank all staff and volunteers involved in making this the success that it was.

"It's important for families and young people across South Ayrshire to integrate and engage with one another, regardless of economic circumstances. I'm delighted that we were able to offer these events free of charge and provide delicious hot food by the Council's Catering Team."
