Annual Festive Safety Campaign Launches in South Ayrshire
As the countdown to the festive period officially begins, South Ayrshire's annual Festive Safety initiative begins on Saturday 30 November.
The multi-agency partnership initiative involving frontline service delivery from South Ayrshire Council; Police Scotland; Beatbox Leisure; South Carrick First Responders; and Ayr and Prestwick Street Pastors, will run each weekend until Saturday 28 December to ensure that those visiting Ayr and Prestwick town centres over the festive period can enjoy themselves safely.
The Ayr and Prestwick Street Pastors will once again provide a mobile service to those who may need some assistance or attention while out at night, whilst the South Carrick First Responders will be on hand to provide First Aid to anyone in need.
Chief Inspector Stuart Dougan, Chair of the Community Safety Partnership, said: "We would encourage anyone visiting pubs and clubs to take a safe means of transport home, and taxi marshals will be situated at the Boswell Park Taxi Rank in Ayr to monitor the busy area on Saturday nights into early Sunday mornings throughout the duration of the campaign. Police Scotland will also be visible in these areas, with additional patrols in place to support with the increased numbers visiting the towns at night."
