Darley Golf Course 'Masterplan' - Public Engagement Sessions

Darley Golf Course Feb 25

South Ayrshire Council is continuing to work with the talented team at Pangaea Golf Architecture, in association with Paul Lawrie, to improve the playing experience at Belleisle and Darley Golf Courses.

Following public engagement sessions for Belleisle last year, the initial 'masterplan' of design concepts for Darley Golf Course will be available soon.

Members of the public and local clubs can view the concepts at Darley Clubhouse from Tuesday 25 February until Monday 24 March, and drop-in sessions will also be available with council officers at the clubhouse on:

  • Tuesday 25 February from 10am until 3pm
  • Wednesday 26 February from 4pm until 8pm

Darley Golf Course opened in 1911 as the third public course to be constructed in Troon. Originally named Troon Municipal No.1, the golf course has observed several changes over its 113-year history, including being used by the Ministry of Defence during the first and second World Wars, and more recently, alterations to create safe walking paths for members of the public.

Councillor Brian Connolly, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure said: "Making improvements to our golf offering in South Ayrshire is really important so that we can continue to make golf an attractive sport to both residents and visitors to the area.

"We're committed to making sure we retain the reputation of our facilities and I'd encourage everyone who has an interest in the sport to come along and see the fantastic plans we have for Darley course and provide feedback."
