About the Marr Trust

Charles Kerr Marr - a childless Widower - in 1919 he bequeathed his large fortune for the educational benefit of the townspeople of Troon where he had been born and brought up.

Out of Marr's generous endowment there was established Marr College - one of the most prestigious schools in Scotland - and the C.K. Marr Educational Trust.

Apart from providing the whole cost of the running of the Marr Educational Resources Centre, the Marr Trust provides: bursaries to persons engaged in tertiary education; scholarships to allow students to undertake postgraduate or research work beyond first Degree level; grants to allow students to undertake educational travel visits; special assistance for educational purposes to disabled persons.

The benefits of the Trust are limited to persons currently and normally resident within Troon. Further details from and application forms to: Mr David Stewart, Clerk & Treasurer, C.K. Marr Educational Trust, 1 Howard Street, Kilmarnock, KA1 2BW.
