Appeal a planning decision

If you're unhappy with your planning decision, you've the right to appeal or ask for a local review.

The way you appeal depends on how the decision was made. Your decision notice will tell you how you should appeal.

How to make an appeal

You can appeal if the planning applications committee refuses your application or imposes conditions.

You ask for an appeal to Scottish Ministers. You have 3 months from the date of decision to make an appeal.

You can ask for a local review if planning officers refuse your application or impose conditions.

Our councillors make up the local review body. It meets in public and decides how to deal with reviews.

You have 3 months from the date of decision to ask for a review.

You can't usually submit new information or evidence as part of your appeal or review.

You must submit all important information with your planning application.
