New Ayr leisure centre - Pre-application consultation
The digital survey 'Ayr Leisure Centre - Tell us what you think' was launched on Monday 22 March and ran for 8 weeks until Friday 14 May 2021. The consultation identified some ideas for each of the key spaces in the new leisure centre and asked for public opinion on each - sketches were also included to better convey how some of the areas could look. The results of the survey were taken into account as the design for the centre developed over the past few months in preparation for submitting a Planning Application. The project meets the criteria of a 'Major' planning application, therefore the next phase was the statutory "Pre-Application Consultation".
The consultation ran from Thursday 21st Oct until Monday 1st Nov and was launched at an online event 4pm-7pm on 21st Oct. This was an opportunity for the public to hear more about the project directly from team members, and to ask planning-related questions. Project drawings were also posted in the windows of the Hourtsons Building (viewed from the Arran Mall) and in the reception area of the Citadel, just beyond the turnstiles.
Public feedback on the consultation is currently being collated. This will inform the design where appropriate and the feedback report will be submitted alongside the Planning Application later this year.
