Free Easter activities for children across South Ayrshire

Easter Activities - Golf 400 x 400

Children in Troon; Ayr; Maybole; and Girvan are set to benefit this Easter as the Council continues its holiday lunches programme.

Over the two-week break, children will be able to take part in lots of free, fun activities including golf; canoeing; football; gardening; and even treasure hunts!

Each child attending an activity, will also be able to access a free holiday meal consisting of a freshly made roll; packet of crisps/popcorn; a piece of fruit; and a 500ml bottle of water.

The youngsters are sure to work up an appetite with all the activities on offer. At the Domain Youth Centre in Whitletts, Ayr, there will be youth clubs and activity sessions in the morning, afternoon and some evenings.

Golfing classes are set to take place at Annbank Primary School and Tarbolton Primary School, and Whitletts Vic's will be running football camps from 10am-3pm Monday to Friday over both weeks.

In Troon, there will be a range of fun activities including treasure hunts and games as well as the chance to get artsy.

At the Carrick Centre in Maybole, the Easter activities include cooking, getting creative with crafts and sports. There will be similar activities on offer at the Carrick Opportunities Centre in Girvan.

Jamie Tait, Service Lead for Thriving Communities at the Council said: "Our Easter activities programme is a great way for children to stay active during the holidays. The addition of a meal for each child, also takes the pressure off some parents. We will also continue to pay £3 per child, per day to parents / carers whose children would normally be entitled to a free school meal."
