Carers Benefits

Carers may be entitled to Carers Allowance if, the person they care for is in receipt of the following benefits:

  • Adult Disability Payment - any rate of daily living
  • Personal Independence Payment - any rate living component
  • Child Disability Payment - middle or high rate of daily living
  • Disability Living Allowance - middle or high rate of care
  • Attendance Allowance - any rate
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment

The carer must also be:

  • You must be aged 16 or over
  • Not are not in full time education
  • If you work, you must earn less than £132 a week
  • You have to show you care for one person at least 35 hours a week

Prior to applying for Carers Allowance we would encourage the carer and the person requiring care to have a full benefit check as applying for Carers Allowance is not always advantageous.
