Carers Benefits
Carers may be entitled to Carers Allowance if, the person they care for is in receipt of the following benefits:
- Adult Disability Payment - any rate of daily living
- Personal Independence Payment - any rate living component
- Child Disability Payment - middle or high rate of daily living
- Disability Living Allowance - middle or high rate of care
- Attendance Allowance - any rate
- Constant Attendance Allowance
- Armed Forces Independence Payment
The carer must also be:
- You must be aged 16 or over
- Not are not in full time education
- If you work, you must earn less than £132 a week
- You have to show you care for one person at least 35 hours a week
Prior to applying for Carers Allowance we would encourage the carer and the person requiring care to have a full benefit check as applying for Carers Allowance is not always advantageous.
