Industrial action - waste collections from 1 September

The current industrial action ends on Thursday 1 September.

Green bins (green lidded bins) / food waste collections
Residents with a scheduled green bin / food waste collection on Thursday 1 September or Friday 2 September should put their bins out as normal.

Any residents who have missed a green bin collection from 24 August to 31 August should also put their green bin out on Thursday 1 September by 5:45am.

Due to a high volume of bin collections, please leave your green bin out continuously until 9:00pm on Monday 5 September. If it has not been collected by then, please bring it back in and wait for further information.

Other household bins
Any households that have a grey bin, blue bin, glass, or brown bin scheduled for collection on Thursday 1 or Friday 2 September, please note that these will not be collected.

On Monday 5 September, please put your scheduled household bin out for collection as normal.  This means that if you have a green bin, food caddy, grey bin, blue bin, glass, or brown bin scheduled for collection, these will be collected.

The next industrial action is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 6 September and will run until Wednesday 14 September. We will provide more information on what this means for bin collections, special uplifts, and our recycling centres when we can.

If you have a food waste collection scheduled between Tuesday 6 - Wednesday 14 September, please put your food waste in your scheduled or missed green bin collection prior to this date. This is due to impending industrial action during this period.

Household waste recycling centres
Our Household Waste Recycling Centres will be open as normal from Thursday 1 September. Please remember that you will now need to book a slot in order to visit any of our sites. Residents can register for an E-permit, by going to Household waste recycling centre booking system - South Ayrshire Council (south-ayrshire.gov.uk) .  Anyone without digital access can phone 0300 123 0900 to register for an E-permit and make a booking.  Our phone lines are open Monday to Thursday 9:00am - 4:45pm and 9:00am - 4:00pm of Fridays.

Commercial waste customers
From 1 September, we will collect waste from our commercial customers on your scheduled collection day.
