Prestwick Golf Course Access Exemption Order

LAND REFORM (SCOTLAND) ACT 2003

NOTICE OF PROPOSED ORDER TO EXEMPT LAND FROM ACCESS RIGHTS

In compliance with Section 11(2)(b) of the Land Reform (Scotland) Act 2003 (the "Act"), South Ayrshire Council gives notice it proposes to make THE SOUTH AYRSHIRE COUNCIL (PRESTWICK GOLF COURSE 150TH OPEN) EXEMPTING LAND FROM ACCESS RIGHTS ORDER 2022 (the "Order"), under Section 11(1) of the Act.

The Order will exempt an area of land comprising Prestwick Golf Course, including the public right of way SCK35, which will be outlined on a plan annexed to the Order, from the access rights which would otherwise be exercisable in respect of that land by virtue of Part 1 of the Act:

The Order is proposed to enable events to be held at the Prestwick Golf Course to celebrate the occasion of the 150th Open, with the land being proposed specifically for temporary exemption from access rights in the interests of the safety and security of participating players and the safety of staff and the public, during the events.

For the period during which the relevant exemption order is in force, an alternative route for the right of way will be available around the edge of the area covered by the Order (as indicated on the plan annexed to the Order).

It is proposed the Order will be effective during the period from:

07.00 on 10 October 2022 (or the date on which it is confirmed by the Scottish Ministers, if later) until 19:00 on 23 October 2022, inclusive.

Objections or representations in respect of the proposed Order may be made by email to Rachel.Shipley@south-ayrshire.gov.uk, or in writing, to Rachel Shipley, Outdoor Access Officer, Planning & Building Standards Service, South Ayrshire Council, County Buildings, Wellington Square, Ayr, KA7 1DR, no later than Sunday 2nd October 2022, and should state the name and address of the correspondent and, in the case of objections, the grounds on which they are made.
