Your Choice Lettings and Property Management were very pleased to welcome their first tenant and Landlord on to the scheme in January 2022. 

James, our first tenant has settled in well to his new home and has certainly turned it into a bright and welcoming place to call home. James has all his own finishing touches throughout the flat which is lovely for us to see and what Your Choice Lettings is trying to achieve with this new relationship led service. 

James, our tenant was kind enough to give an account of his experience in his own words about the service he has received from Your Choice Lettings and Property Management.  

"I found accessing the rental market quite challenging, due to the shortage of rental properties and the need for credit checks. I was made aware of the pilot scheme that South Ayrshire Council had just begun. The council operate as letting agents looking after both the tenant and the landlord. It didn't take long before I was up visiting a flat that was close to my work and in a nice area. I was allocated a housing officer who has been great, supporting me wherever I needed support. It was different from renting from a letting agent due to the tenancy support offered as part of the service, my housing officer was the kind of person who will go out their way for you.

I have found renting from the council a very positive experience, I felt they cared about the outcome, they wanted to see me make a success of my tenancy and were happy to support me to do so. Whether that be, with practical advice or assistance or just coming round for a cuppa and a chat and leaving me a wee jar of homemade jam. I would advise anyone struggling to access the rental market or a landlord looking at renting out their property to consider this option. "
