Provost Iain Campbell attended a service on Saturday 25 February at Ayr's Auld Kirk to mark the first anniversary of the war in Ukraine. Reverend David Gemmell invited Provost Campbell to light a candle at the beginning of the service.

Ukrainians living in South Ayrshire were welcomed along to the service to remember loved ones who have been lost or left behind, and South Ayrshire residents showed support to the new members of their community.

South Ayrshire Provost Iain Campbell said: "It's important to remember those who have lost their lives in the year since the war began in Ukraine. This lovely service was a great way to show our support to those who have lost their homes back in Ukraine, as well as much-loved family members and friends. Thanks to everyone from across South Ayrshire who attended."
