Councillor Bob Shields named as Council's new Portfolio Holder for 'Developing South Ayrshire'

Councillor Bob Shields will become South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Developing South Ayrshire.

On Wednesday 1 March, South Ayrshire Councillors agreed to create the additional portfolio allocated to an Independent Member, which will have an oversight of special projects and developments that will enhance South Ayrshire.

The Independent Members have confirmed their nomination as Councillor Shields.

The new portfolio will see Councillor Shields provide strategic and political leadership to council officers working on plans that will help develop South Ayrshire and build on some of the many fantastic attractions and facilities the area already has to offer.

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Developing South Ayrshire, Councillor Bob Shields said: "I am delighted to take on the portfolio for Developing South Ayrshire.  As many residents will know, I'm passionate about the area and this is a responsibility I take very seriously.

"It'll be a privilege to work closely with officers to help realise the Council's objectives in relation to the development of South Ayrshire."
