Council announces cost-busting sport & leisure packages

South Ayrshire Council's Sport & Leisure team has just introduced a new streamlined range of membership packages, providing access to gym, swim, fitness, and activity for 2023/24 across 10 local leisure facilities.

The previous Access to Leisure discount scheme has been replaced with a simplified, affordable range of memberships, each offering access to more activities than ever before, while still providing excellent value for money. 

The new 'Full Fitness (off-peak)' membership offers access to unlimited swimming, gym, and standard fitness classes during daytime hours across all Sport & Leisure facilities, with over 32% discounted off a full price membership!  

For customers who want to access all leisure facilities any day of the week at any time, the new 'Full Fitness' membership provides it all. To ensure value for money, this membership level has been reduced from £38 to £30 per month and provides the ultimate flexibility for customers, including access to premium fitness classes, discounted court-hire, and access to both indoor and outdoor athletics facilities at the brand-new Riverside Sports Arena. 

Membership packages for young people have been extended, adding a new Junior-fit membership (11-13yrs) to compliment the popular Teen-fit membership (14-17yrs). The Sport & Leisure Activ8 membership has also been extended to provide free access to all leisure facilities for young carers and care experienced young people living and learning in South Ayrshire. 

All pre-paid annual membership packages are now discounted, offering 12-month membership for the price of 10, which is great value. 

The recent £8.4m investment in a new state-of-the-art athletics facility, £300k refurbishment of Prestwick Gym and a new swimming pool and gym opening in Maybole later in 2023 are all accessible through our membership packages. 

Councillor Brian Connolly, Sport and Leisure Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "At a time when we are all watching the pennies, these memberships are fantastic value for money. I am delighted that we are able to offer these heavy discounts while still investing in our facilities. We want to ensure that residents have every opportunity to get active and stay active, and I am particularly pleased that we are expanding the packages available for young people."
