South Ayrshire Council have announced a further addition to the aerial display line-up at The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight.

Airborne Pyrotechnics will light up the skies over Ayr shore front as part of the evening flying display on Friday 8 September.

Equipped with LED lights and pyrotechnics attached to the tips of their wings, the team will perform a graceful two aircraft formation display, showcasing the skills of their pilots, Tim and Tom Dews.

The father and son team will also mesmerise the crowds on Saturday 9 September, with their daytime display, where they will swap the pyrotechnics for smoke!  This time, festival goers will get a better view of their impressive Grob 109b motor gliders.

The aircraft are made from extremely light, and strong, composite materials. This means that they are super-efficient hybrids that can fly like a normal aeroplane, but also like a glider.

CEO of theSKYLAB, Dr Geoff Coxon, said: "We are extremely fortunate to have secured Airborne Pyrotechnics to participate at the 2023 Ayr Show.  The pilots will deliver a truly spectacular performance that will literally light up the event."

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: "Festival goers are in for a real treat when Airborne Pyrotechnics take to the sky.  Adults and children alike will be transfixed by the father and son team's breath-taking performances."

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: "Anyone who has seen Airborne Pyrotechnics in action will know what a jaw-dropping show they put on.  I can't wait to see their performances live, and I'm delighted the team will be able to make both daytime and evening appearances during the festival."

Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Martin Dowey, said: "It's fantastic to be able to confirm yet another display for the International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight. Airborne Pyrotechnics are a great addition to what's already shaping up to be an impressive line-up."

The three-day festival, which will run from 8 - 10 September, will also play host to a whole variety of great family entertainment and attractions.
