South Ayrshire Council is delighted to be working with multi-award winning Leisure industry experts, Alliance Leisure, to develop initial proposals to refurbish the Citadel Leisure Centre.

Although in the very early stages, discussions to date have centred around an improved user experience which will maximise the opportunities for tourism and attracting a new customer base.

Staying mindful of the remedial works required throughout the facility, the project will ensure the £10m investment is used to not only repair the fabric of the building, but create a fresh and innovative destination for residents and tourists.

Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Martin Dowey said: "We want to make sure everyone has the opportunity to stay active, fit and healthy, and these design concepts give a great idea of what the improvements could look like at The Citadel Leisure Centre.

"The centre is used by over 300,000 people every year for a wide range of activities, and we want to make sure it has the best facilities and equipment so that everyone can access and enjoy a great space for play, sport and recreation. I'm really looking forward to seeing this project progress."

Councillor Brian Connolly, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure said: "It's fantastic to see the initial design concepts, they're really impressive and give a clear indication of how the works will help to improve the facilities at The Citadel.

"We're committed to investing in our sports facilities in South Ayrshire and like me, I'm sure residents and visitors alike are looking forward to seeing it being upgraded."
