Airshow Apex Traffic Management

South Ayrshire Council have confirmed that Apex Traffic Management will head up their traffic management programme for The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight.

The Apex events team will work on a strategy that will ease congestion and delays around Ayr town centre during the three-day festival.

They will oversee all traffic management operations ahead of, and during the event, including the set-up of traffic controls and traffic management and car parking signage.

Apex will create bespoke park and ride, and park and walk options for people travelling to the new air show this September.

They will also have representatives on site throughout the event to make sure people can travel to and from the festival and move about in Ayr with minimal disruption.

Apex Traffic Management's General Manager, Iain Griffin said: "The Apex Traffic Management team are looking forward to working alongside South Ayrshire Council and all their partners on this prestigious event. Our events team, guided by Willie Reilly, have been working on a new dynamic park and ride as well as a new park and walk strategy to ease congestion and delays around Ayr town centre and surrounding areas."

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: "I'd like to welcome Apex Traffic Management on board as part of the event operational team for The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight.  We want people to be able to travel to the air show with ease and Apex are the right team to make sure this happens."

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: "With the amount of traffic we're expecting to come through Ayr during the air show weekend, we need to prioritise everyone's safety while travelling.  I'm pleased to have Apex Traffic Management join us and know they'll do a stellar job in advance of and during the festival."

Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Martin Dowey, said: "Apex Traffic Management pride themselves on their quality, reliability and safety measures. I know they'll create the bespoke, robust traffic management plans we need that'll help make this event a success."

The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight will be held at Ayr shore front between Friday 8 - Sunday 10 September 2023.
