BAE Systems confirmed as a sponsor for new air show

South Ayrshire Council are pleased to confirm that BAE Systems is sponsoring The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight.

BAE Systems provide some of the world's most advanced, technology-led defence, aerospace and security solutions.

The company has a long history in South Ayrshire through their site at Prestwick, with its rich heritage in the design, development and support of commercial aircraft. More recently, the site has evolved as a centre of engineering excellence within BAE Systems' Air Sector, and is now involved in aircraft such as Typhoon and the F-35 Lightning II, as well as playing a part of the recently launched FalconWorks™, a new centre for advanced and agile research and technology development in the Air Sector.

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: "We are delighted to welcome BAE Systems as another sponsor of the International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight. Their support highlights the strong partnership between the aviation industry and our local community, showcasing the importance of aerospace technology and innovation in our region."

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: "BAE Systems have a rich history in South Ayrshire, and their sponsorship demonstrates their commitment to fostering local talent and promoting the aerospace sector. I hope this collaboration will inspire future generations to explore careers in STEM and contribute to the growth of our local economy."

The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight will take place at Ayr's Low Green between Friday 8 - Sunday 10 September 2023.
