Strike Master Pair to display at new air show

Airshow Strike Master Pair

South Ayrshire Council are delighted to announce that not one, but two Strike Master aircraft will display at The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight next month.

Based at North Wales Aviation Services Ltd., the Strike Master Pair display team will showcase the power and agility of this small jet.

The aircraft is based on an ex-RAF jet trainer called the Jet Provost T mk5A.

The team will display using a sequence of manoeuvres that best show the aircraft's capabilities. The first part of the show will see the aircraft conducting close formation aerobatics at speeds in excess of 300 knots (that's just over 345 miles per hour!), while still remaining in good view of the crowd.

In the second half, the team will split to perform some impressive opposition manoeuvres.

CEO of theSKYLAB, Dr Geoff Coxon said: ""This will be an impressive display to watch. Having just one of these jets at an air show is quite rare these days, but to have two is special. As these are quite small jets, having two of them flying together means that the display will be much more dynamic and entertaining to watch."

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark said: "We want to end the summer months on a high and the aerial display line-up at the new air show will help us to do just that.  The Strike Master Pair is a display that you won't want to miss, so now's the time to make arrangements to come along to Ayr next month.  It's going to be a great weekend-long festival for all the family to enjoy."

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: "With just five weeks to go until we bring the new air show to Ayr shore front, excitement is building.  The Strike Master Pair further enhances our aerial display programme and I'm sure they'll deliver an exhilarating display."

Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Martin Dowey, said: "The Strike Master Pair is a fantastic addition to the all-star cast that will take to our skies during next month's festival.  The team are sure to please the crowds with their daring moves and impressive speeds."

The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight will take place at Ayr shore front between Friday 8 - Sunday 10 September 2023.
