Tom Gilfillan aviation murals on show at Rozelle

To celebrate the International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight taking place between 8- 10 September, Rozelle House Museum and Galleries is hosting an exhibition of aviation murals by renowned artist Tom Gilfillan.

"A History of Flight, the Tom Gilfillan Murals of Prestwick Airport" will be on show in The Patron's Gallery at Rozelle between 19th August - 15th October 2023.

The exhibition is open Monday - Saturday 10am - 5pm, and Sundays 12noon - 5pm. Admission is free.

Tom Gilfillan was a student at the Glasgow School of Art on and off from 1915 to 1931. He went on to become a designer for Scottish Aviation, during which time he painted the Prestwick Airport murals.

Living in both Troon and Ayr, Tom painted landscapes of the west coast of Scotland, but is best known for his tourism posters promoting travel in the west of Scotland, and the Highlands and Islands.
