Get set for a 'special night glow' as air show festival begins on Friday 8 September

Airshow a special night glow

It's almost here!  The International Ayr Show - Festival of Flight comes to Ayr shore front next week and we're kicking things off on Friday 8 September with a spectacular 'special night glow'.

Friday evening's displays will run from 7:15pm - 9:00pm.

Gravity Industries, our key STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) focussed display, will be first up on Friday night.  The team will showcase their amazing Jet Suit, turning something from a Hollywood movie into reality!

Also, get set for RAF Black Jack Typhoon, as the extremely agile, multi-role combat aircraft sweeps across our skies.

The phenomenal Calidus Autgyro will be a fun, exciting and exhilarating display.  Part aeroplane and part helicopter, watch as it pirouettes, pitches and yawns it's way over the shoreline.

The mesmerising Airbourne Pyrotechnics will light up the darkening sky with their colourful lights and pyrotechnics that are attached to the tips of their wings.  This is one display that the children (and the big kids) will absolutely love!

You can also look forward to a special tethered night glow, thanks to the organisers of Strathaven Balloon Festival. Stand by to be impressed by its size and grace, as the hot air balloon is illuminated, creating a beautiful glow as the sun goes down.

Remember, the event starts from 4:00pm when our Festival Village will officially open.

The village will be filled with fantastic entertainment and activities for everyone to enjoy and take part in.  Round up your friends and family, come along to the Low Green and soak up the festival atmosphere.

Plus, you can make the most of the fantastic range of food and drink on offer and get fuelled up before the aerial displays start at 7:15pm.

What's even better is that parking is half price on Friday, at just £5 per car.  So, what are you waiting for?  Book in advance now at www.ayrshow.co.uk.

South Ayrshire Council's Director of Strategic Change and Communities, Jane Bradley, said: "It's absolutely wonderful to bring such a large-scale, three-day event to Ayr.  There will be loads to see and do in our Festival Village from 4:00pm on Friday 8 September, and we've got some impressive ariel displays lined-up from 7:15pm.  So, it'll be the perfect way to start your festival weekend.   I'm particularly looking forward to the Airbourne Pyrotechnics and the tethered hot air balloon displays that will create the 'special night glow' as the light begins to fade."
