Extended Learning Facility Relocation in North Ayr - consultation

Have Your Say reduced 400 x 400

South Ayrshire Council is consulting on the proposed relocation of additional support needs provision at Dalmilling Primary School to Heathfield Primary School.

At present 30 children travel from across South Ayrshire, to attend the North Ayr Extended Learning Facility at Dalmilling Primary School.

Under proposals the children would instead attend a new, larger facility at Heathfield Primary School which is 1.9 miles away from Dalmilling Primary.

Dalmilling Primary School is likely to see a rise in attendance as a result of the new housing at Mainholm. These plans would therefore alleviate pressure from Dalmilling Primary as the school adapts to an increased role.

The Council has contacted the families of the children who attend the Extended Learning Facility at Dalmilling Primary School but is also seeking the views of all interested parties. This would include parents and carers of children attending the two schools along with parents and carers of any child who would be expected to attend any of these schools within the next two years.

Lyndsay McRoberts, Director of Education at South Ayrshire Council said: "We're hoping to gather as much feedback as we can on the proposals, so I would encourage anyone with current links to the schools or who may have children attending in the next couple of years' to have their say."
