South Ayrshire Council shortlisted in five categories at Learning Places Scotland Awards

South Ayrshire Council has been shortlisted in five categories for the prestigious Learning Places Scotland Awards 2023.

These awards provide recognition of excellence in the design of educational buildings.

The new Prestwick North Educational Campus has made the shortlist in three categories - 'Pupil/Student Experience', 'Inspiring Learning Spaces' and the prestigious 'Project of the Year'. Pupils and Staff from St Ninians and Glenburn Primaries moved into the new building in August 2022.

Forehill Early Years Centre has also been shortlisted in the 'Early Learning & Childcare' category. 

South Ayrshire Council has also been shortlisted in the 'Client of the Year' category.

Councillor Stephen Ferry, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Education said: "We want our young people to get the best possible start in life and the environment in which they learn plays a key part in this.

"The buildings shortlisted are fantastic examples of the excellent facilities our school estate has to offer, and I am happy that this has been recognised by Learning Places Scotland."

Councillor Martin Kilbride, South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Buildings, Housing and Environment said: "Being shortlisted in five different categories in the Learning Place Scotland Awards is a great achievement in itself. 

"This modern learning facility is an asset to the area that will benefit many generations to come."

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on Tuesday 14 November 2023.
