South Ayrshire Council is set to launch a new online portal for schools on 26 February.

Parentsportal.scotwill be piloted in all Council mainstream secondary schools, as well as Heathfield, Kingcase, Monkton and Symington primary schools.

The portal will replace the school bag run as the main way information reaches parents and carers.

With the aim of making life easier for those with children and young people at school, the portal will allow them to manage paperwork connected with school activities.

The annual data check will be the first process that can be completed online. In time, parents and carers will then be able to action permission slips, see attendance records and access reports and much more, and all at a time that suits them.

Councillor Stephen Ferry, Education Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "Parentsportal.scot is a huge part of our commitment to improve engagement with parents and carers. The portal promises to be transformational, enabling those who have registered to see how their child is progressing without having to wait for the next parents evening.

"So many forms and slips end up languishing in school bags, and vital information can be missed. The portal means all types of information is just a click of a button away."

Following the pilot, parentsportal.scot will be rolled out to all South Ayrshire Council schools over the course of the 2024/25 school year.

The project, which is part of the Council's strategic change programme, is being delivered in partnership with the Scottish Governments' Improvement Service. You can find out more by visiting www.south-ayrshire.gov.uk/parents-portal
