South Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership Child Poverty Strategy gains endorsement

NEWS UPDATED

The Child Poverty Strategy for 2024-2029 was endorsed at the Cabinet meeting which took place on Tuesday 18 June.

The Child Poverty Strategy commits to doing the utmost to minimise the impact of poverty on communities, families, and especially children. This was agreed by the South Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership Board in April.

Community Planning brings key partners together to improve services for the residents and communities of South Ayrshire.

The South Ayrshire Community Planning Partnership has consulted families in the community to understand the struggles they face, in order to develop a strategy that will support the mental and physical health of young people, and support opportunities to allow them to reach their full potential.

South Ayrshire Council's Assistant Director - Corporate Policy Strategy and Performance, Kevin Anderson, said: "I'm delighted that the Child Poverty Strategy for 2024-2029 has been endorsed.

"South Ayrshire Council, along with our community planning partners, are committed to supporting children and families in the face of poverty, and this is an important step towards meaningful change."
