South Ayrshire Earns Top Marks for Positive School Leaver Destinations

NEWS UPDATED

South Ayrshire Council's commitment to ensuring school leavers move on to positive destinations has been recognised in Scottish Government figures, revealing we are placed in the top four Councils across Scotland for the fourth consecutive year.  The success is a result of strong partnerships with Skills Development Scotland, Ayrshire College, alongside the hard work of our Education and Thriving Communities staff.

The School Leaver Destination (SLDR) Follow Up Report, published on 18 June 2024, confirmed that an exceptional 97.3% of young people across South Ayrshire have sustained a positive destination. As the national average is 92.8%, this achievement demonstrates our dedication to supporting young people fulfil their potential.

South Ayrshire Council's Depute Chief Executive and Director of Education, Lyndsay McRoberts said: "This is an outstanding result, which once again reflects the hard work and invaluable partnership of our Education and Thriving Communities staff and external partners.

"It's an important chapter in young peoples' lives, which is why providing the right guidance and support to all is crucial. Everyone deserves the opportunity to find the right path when leaving school, regardless of academic achievements, and I'm proud that this result demonstrates that."
