Timeline of community engagement:
The Community Conversations in Monkton began in November 2021 and continued through to February 2021. In June 2022 the Monkton engagement outcomes paper was published.
South Ayrshire Council has for the past months supported the Monkton community council to develop a community-led action plan. The launch of the action plan will happen on the 17th of April 2024 at the Monkton Community Council monthly meeting.
"Oh what a journey that has been! Hours of working together, looking at historical documents, developing actions for our village, being very vocal about what is working and what is not, scrutinising every detail of the layout, and countless emails!" Nancy, will surely utter a sigh of relief that this stage was finally overcome. After years of community engagement, the Monkton Community Council with the support of South Ayrshire Council have finalised the Community-led Action Plan for the community of Monkton. Monkton is an expanding and thriving village with an increasing number of residents with limited facilities. However through this action plan the MCC are constructively trying to improve the village: with better facilities, a say in future planning, a well-connected village, respecting the environment, and bringing all residents closer together. The Monkton Community-led Action Plan is testimony of what the Monkton community wanted and the planning of better health and wellbeing of the community. The launch of this action plan, is not the end of the journey but rather, just one of the stages in the journey. Next is the implementation phase to bring about the necessary change to further improve the community.
