Tee in the Park at Rozelle House Museum and Galleries

Tee in the Park

This summer, Rozelle House Museum and Galleries celebrates the return of The Open Championship to Royal Troon with a fascinating exhibition, "Tee in the Park." Running from 13 July to 22 September 2024, the exhibition delves into the rich history of The Open, the development of public golf in South Ayrshire, and intriguing stories from both local and national golf history.

Golf enthusiasts and casual visitors alike will find something to enjoy, from historic artifacts to items from current tour pros, including renowned Scottish players.

Highlights include flags from Tiger Woods's last majors win, Seve Ballesteros's clubs, bag and clothes, an immersive projection, and the first ever club to win The Open in 1860 at Prestwick. Additionally, visitors can partake in a putting green and a fun crazy golf course that winds through South Ayrshire.

Golf also returns to Rozelle Park, with a free Putting Green, situated by the café courtyard.

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs, Councillor Alec Clark, said: "With the Open Championship set to begin shortly at Royal Troon, this exhibition is perfectly timed. I am thrilled to see 'Tee in the Park' come to life at Rozelle, offering both residents and visitors a chance to explore the rich history of golf.

"By exploring both local and national golf stories, the exhibition offers something for everyone. It's a testament to the enduring appeal of golf and could very well inspire the next generation of golfers and enthusiasts.  We encourage everyone to visit and experience this fascinating journey through golf history."

South Ayrshire Council's Portfolio Holder for Sport and Leisure, Councillor Brian Connolly, said: "We are excited to offer visitors a comprehensive golf experience, from the spectacle of The Open to the educational and entertaining elements of 'Tee in the Park.'

We invite everyone to explore the many wonderful destinations South Ayrshire has to offer during their stay.  Our exhibition at Rozelle House Museum and Galleries showcases our pride in being a world-class destination and our commitment to promoting the region's diverse attractions and vibrant cultural heritage."

A spokesperson from The R&A World Golf Museum said: "We are very keen to support this exhibition with a loan of objects, and look forward to The Claret Jug visiting Rozelle House in August."
