Prestwick Leisure Club Improvement Works

NEWS UPDATED

Prestwick Leisure Club is set to close on 17 August to allow building improvement works to take place.

When the facility on Bellevue Road reopens in the spring of 2025, it will boast a new roof, new exterior wall cladding and an innovative Air Handling Ventilation System.

The building will also have an increased water supply along with improved water storage. Green credentials will also receive a boost thanks to the installation of solar panels.

Throughout the works, Club Fitness members will be able to access the gym & pool at the Citadel Leisure Centre in Ayr.

Troon Leisure Club and Maybole Leisure Club will also be accessible during the closure, as both these facilities can be used as part of the standard membership.

Customers who currently attend classes at Prestwick Leisure Club have the option to upgrade their membership for as little as £5 per month, so they can access Fitness Classes running at the Citadel.

Councillor Brian Connolly, Sport and Leisure Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "We want to ensure that our leisure facilities provide a quality experience to customers for many years to come. To help achieve this we've already doubled the size of the gym at Prestwick Leisure Club and these new works will also expand changing and shower facilities."

Councillor Martin Kilbride, Buildings, Housing and Environment Portfolio Holder said: "Our buildings need to be as energy efficient as possible. Replacing the roof and the cladding at Prestwick Leisure Club will improve insulation and ultimately save on utility bills. These are significant works, and this is reflected in the timescales, but we have other facilities which customers can access."

Prestwick Leisure Club will close on Saturday 17 August 2024 at 5:00pm.
