Important Information About Industrial Action Scheduled from 14 - 21 August 2024

As a result of industrial action which is scheduled to take place from Wednesday 14 August until Wednesday 21 August inclusive, we may require to make some temporary changes to our household waste collections.

If the industrial action proceeds, there will be no collections of domestic waste during this period, including:

• General waste (green/green lidded bin)
• Metals, plastic and cartons (blue/blue lidded bin)
• Paper, card and cardboard (grey bin)
• Glass bottles and jars (purple lidded bin)
• Food waste (silver caddy)
• Garden waste (brown bin - for those who have signed up to our Garden Waste Permit scheme) 
• Public litter bins

There will also be no special/bulky uplifts or collection of waste from commercial customers.

Our Household Waste Recycling Centres at Heathfield, Maybole, Girvan and Troon will be closed from Wednesday 14 August until Wednesday 21 August inclusive, and any appointments during this time will be cancelled.

Commercial waste services at Heathfield Household Waste Recycling Centre will be unavailable from 12noon on Friday 9 August until Monday 12 August inclusive. The centre will reopen for commercial waste customers on the Tuesday 13 August for one day, and then will close from Wednesday 14 August until Wednesday 21 August inclusive.

We apologise in advance to residents and our commercial customers for any inconvenience caused by this industrial action.

Phased Recommencement of Services

Normal collections will recommence as per the schedule below.

From Thursday 22 August 2024:

• General waste (green/green lidded bin).
• Food waste (silver caddy)
• Garden waste (brown bin - for those who have signed up to our Garden Waste Permit scheme) 
• Commercial waste collections

If your scheduled green or brown bin collection was affected by the industrial action, please put your bin out by 6am on Thursday 22 August and leave it out until it is collected. The lid should be closed, with no additional side waste present.

From Monday 2 September 2024, normal collections will resume for:

• Metals, plastic and cartons (blue/blue lidded bin)
• Paper, card and cardboard (grey bin)
• Glass bottles and jars (purple lidded bin)
• Special/bulky uplifts

Please refer to your collection calendar and put your bin out by 6am on the scheduled collection day. The lid should be closed, with no additional side waste present.
