The Ainslie Park Public Conveniences in Girvan have just reopened following a major refurbishment.

Over £253k has been spent improving the facility which now features new sanitary and drying facilities, revamped accessible toilets, an improved baby changing area and new flooring throughout.

The building has also been completely transformed externally, with new paddlegates and contactless card readers installed.

The refurbished toilets are accessed via the contactless payment entry system. The cost is 50p per visit.

Councillor Martin Kilbride, Buildings, Housing and Environment Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: "I am delighted these public toilets in Girvan have reopened. The refurbishment has been extensive and has involved some unforeseen works such as the removal of septic tanks and the installation of a new soakaway system.

Councillor Alec Clark, Tourism, Culture and Rural Affairs Portfolio Holder said: "The Ainslie Park public toilets are popular with locals and visitors, so it's great that they have reopened. The transformation is impressive and I'm hopeful that similar works could be carried out in the future at our other public conveniences that would benefit from refurbishment."
