Council's Audit and Governance Panel Reviews Audit Scotland Report on Transformation

South Ayrshire Council's Audit and Governance panel reviewed a recent Audit Scotland report on the Council's approach to Transformation on Wednesday 26 March. The report focuses on how the Council is redesigning and delivering more efficient and effective services.
The report found that the Council has made substantial budget savings over the last few years, while still improving the quality of services provided to residents. It also highlighted that the implementation of a new Transformation Board has supported the management of the Council's transformation plans, whose key priorities are based around our workforce; our technology; our assets and our delivery model. The report also recognised that the Council's senior leaders are working together to make the needed changes happen to deliver against these priorities and other planned outcomes.
Our partnership working, alongside the Community Planning Partnership, to support person-centric service redesign across South Ayrshire was also noted.
Audit Scotland also made some recommendations and in line with these, we are working to ensure our transformation plans involve engagement with our communities and are ambitious enough to meet our financial challenges.
Leader of South Ayrshire Council, Councillor Martin Dowey said: "I'm happy that Audit Scotland has recognised the progress we have made in achieving significant savings, while at the same time, continuing to improve the services that matter most to our communities.
"Our Transformation programme includes projects that will make the Council more responsive, sustainable and efficient, and I'm confident that our approach will allow us to meet our current and future financial challenges."
