FIRST PART OF MEETING (9.30am to 10.30am): 

How does nature support the work of the CPP and delivery of our priorities across all our SDPs? Nature provides for many of our basic needs and is the often-forgotten backdrop underlying all our work and lives more generally. However, as well as living in a climate emergency we are also living through a nature emergency involving mass species extinction.

What does this mean for all of us and our daily work, what are our legal duties, and how can we make the best of what we have? At this workshop Joanne McEwan, lead officer for the Nature Priority within the Sustainability SDP, will set out the story so far and how this relates to the day job for all of us, the development of a new Biodiversity Strategy for South Ayrshire and its focus on the development of Spatially defined Nature Networks for South Ayrshire.

We will then take a deep dive into opportunities in relation to the work we are doing under each of the SDPs, where nature supports our work and what we can in turn do to make sure we are providing for nature in the actions we are taking forward. Your input will feed into the new strategy and network development process and a new consultation survey which you can share more widely will also be launched at the workshop.
