South Ayrshire's lifelong learners recognised at Adult and Family Learning Awards 2025

South Ayrshire Council's Thriving Communities team recently celebrated the achievements of local learners, volunteers and community groups at the Adult and Family Learning Awards 2025 at Ayr Town Hall.

The event brought together learners, tutors, partners and third sector organisations from across South Ayrshire to recognise progress made through community-based adult and family learning.  Awards were presented across a range of categories, including Learner of the Year, Family Learning Award, Digital Skills and Literacy Learner.

•    Volunteer Award - Jamie Anthony Lane
•    Learner of the Year - Sharon Munro
•    Family Learning Award - North Carrick Parent and Child Cluster Group
•    Group of the Year - EmpowerHer Women's Group

Councillor William Grant, South Ayrshire Council's Policy Lead for Education and Lifelong Learning, said: "These awards shine a light on the people who have shown real dedication to learning, building their confidence, and making a positive difference in their communities."

The event also highlighted the important role of partnership working, with recognition given to the many third sector organisations that support Thriving Communities to deliver inclusive learning opportunities across local areas.
