Provost and Depute Commemorate 110 Year Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme

South Ayrshire Provost Iain Campbell and Depute Provost Mary Kilpatrick visited Ayr's Cenotaph in Wellington Square on Wednesday 1 July to mark the 110th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.

The ceremony was also attended by the Lord Lieutenant Iona McDonald and Indian Consul Vice Chancery Azad Singh. Provost Campbell took part in the Act of Remembrance by laying a wreath at the monument to mark 110 years since the first day of the Battle of the Somme on 1 July 1916.

Provost Campbell, Depute Provost Kilpatrick and the Lord Lieutenant will also take part in a remembrance service this Sunday 5 July at the Auld Kirk in Ayr to mark the milestone anniversary.
