Club Swimming

  • It lengthens the muscles and makes them stronger! Have you seen Duncan Scott? He's one tall lad! Genes play a part, but his "swimmer muscles" help boost metabolism. It also makes you more flexible.
  • You could be Scotland's next sporting star! If you train hard enough and stay committed and determined, you could progress through the club system and all the way to the top. How big is your medal cabinet?
  • You'll make friends for life! Swimming is a brilliant way to socialise, you'll make great friends within every club.

South Ayrshire Swim Team (SAST) is a thriving and growing swim club based in Ayr, Scotland. It was formed in 2001 when clubs from Ayr, Troon and Prestwick merged together to share resources and pool facilities to form a larger, more competitive and inclusive club which caters for young and older swimmers of all abilities. Working closely with South Ayrshire Council and Scottish Swimming, SAST is run by an elected Committee of parents, coaches and volunteers. SAST has a full-time Senior Head Coach, Byron Stericker, and a full-time Junior Head Coach, Brian Dalgleish, who oversee the coaching team and swim squads from Development through to Senior Performance level. Parent volunteers help to organise and run SAST meets as well as officiate as judges, timekeepers and helpers at other club at national meets.
