Byelaws on the Prohibition of the Consumption of Alcohol

Under these byelaws, subject to certain exceptions, any person who consumes alcohol in a designated place or is found to be in possession of an open container of alcohol in a designated place will be guilty of an offence.


SOUTH AYRSHIRE COUNCIL (PROHIBITION OF THE CONSUMPTION OF ALCOHOL IN DESIGNATED PLACES) BYELAWS 2024

Notice is hereby given that South Ayrshire Council intend to apply to the Scottish Ministers for confirmation of the proposed byelaws, South Ayrshire Council (Prohibition of the Consumption of Alcohol in Designated Places) Byelaws 2024 which the Council intend to make in terms of sections 201, 202 and 203 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973. These Byelaws would replace South Ayrshire Council (Prohibition of the Consumption of Alcohol in Designated Places) Byelaws 2013.

Any objections to the proposed Byelaws must be notified to the Scottish Ministers in writing stating the grounds of objection and should be addressed to The Scottish  Ministers, Criminal Law, Practice and Licensing Unit, Criminal Justice Division, St Andrew's House, Edinburgh, EH1 3DG. Objections must be received by 10th May 2024."
